I have a VB project for which I need to create a single executable, ASAP. I don't want a folder full of files; I don't want an installer; I especially don't want the user to have to have the .net framework on their computer.
Is this even possible any more? Everything I can find on the issue describes some sort of "Setup and Deployment" voodoo that creates a new folder on my computer, and I can't even figure out how to get it to *put* anything in that folder.
Again, I need an executable above all. If at all possible, I want this to be completely standalone. If I have to use Setup and Deployment, I will, but a few hints as to how to proceed once that project is created would be helpful.
Version: Microsoft Development Environment 2003, (Version 7.1.3088) and Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (Version 1.1.4322) from the Visual Studio suite. I have the CDs and can add components if necessary but I've looked and can't find anything that seems to be what I need.

I am doing a programming on visual studio.net 2003 using the Asp.net mobile Web form. I am trying to update the Microsoft access database that i have created using the statement : Update.
According to the Update Statement that i had written, It directly replaces the value in the attribute of the table. Which is not what i am looking for. here's my quote of example for a better explanation:
I have a table name : Pen
Attributes are : ItemID, Color,Quantity,ItemDetails
As such my quantity inside have 10 and when i want to order another 40, i do not want it to replace to 40. i want to replace it to show 50. As such its an addition method.
However in my Update sentence it overwrite it. Is there any other method to make it add?Thanks. Its urgent.

I am working with Microsoft Visual Studio.Net 2003 at home. I need to create a Visual C# project using the template ASP.NET web application. I do not know what to state in the location.
I understand that it should be a URL but what exactly should it be?
Can a geocities or a free web hosting website do?
If so, how do I do it?

Can someone please tell me why I'm getting this pop up message when I try to start VB.Net:
"Visual Basic.Net compiler is unable to recover from the follwing error: Class "Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.... be found. This condition is usually the result of a mismatched 'Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll. Save your work and restart Visual Studio.Net"
This pop up does not go away no matter what I'm doing on the computer until I press ok on it. Then once I press ok on it the designer window opens up for VB.Net. Can someone please tell me why I'm getting this error message? The version I'm using is 2003 VB.net standard?

I have a problem with compiling a VB.net solution. The errors that
occur are about Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll.
All errors look like:
<name> is ambiguous between declarations in Modules
"Microsoft.VisualBasic.Strings" and "Microsoft.VisualBasic.Strings"
I've tried searching the web but I couldn't find the solution of the problem.
hint: I use Visual Studio .NET 2003
P.S. I need an answer as quickly as possible.

Whenever a c++ program that I make ends, no matter whether it is by using "return" or "exit(0)", it always displays, "Press any key to continue" before the window closes itself. Is there a way to get rid of this message and have the window close itself without having to press a key?
I am just learning c++ and I haven't been able to find the answer to this question anywhere else. I've got Microsoft Visual Studio.net 2003.

I wanted to buy this notebook and im not sure whether i can run Microsoft Visual Studio 2003, Eclipse or NetBeans java editors and Macromedia Studio package without taking so much time to process. i've been creating the small program using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003, something like a simple financial cash flow program. It's almost finished, but i heard from my friend that the program will not work at the non-.NET framework-computer. so how to make my program to be able to run independently..??

I have written a little program using Microsoft Visual Studio 2003 and I wanted to make a simple application to display a second form followed by displaying a message in a label box.
First, I create a first form with a label box and a button. The button allows me to go to the second form.
Code:
Dim form2 as new form 2
form2.visible=true
Then I go into the second form and I have a button to display a message in the label box from form1.
Code:
Dim form1 as form1
form1.label1.text="cake"
The second I hit the button it pops up with an error. What am I doing wrong?

I can't find it anywhere, I downloaded a copy off of bearshare but that file was corrupt and didnt work, ended with a .rar
Can anyone tell me where I can download Microsoft Visual Studio .Net 2003 (preferably Enterprise Architect) online?
Doing so without having to register with MSDN or anything, anywhere, anyway I can do this? Thank you!!

I have a licensed copy of Visual Studio .Net 2003. It is an academic licensed that I purchased through my university [Go Longhorns! ;)]. I need the patch meantioned in this knowledge base article - KB828734:

Unlike most patches that you can just download, this patch requires that you email support to receive it. In the process of emailing support, one thing you have to do is enter your product key for Vis Studio. Problem is Microsoft won't accept MSDN or academic licenses for free support. They want me to pay $99 for a support package that I may never need/use again. I was wondering if there are any other places I could look for this patch.

I got an Acer Aspire 7100 series yesterday and I'm trying to install the 7 CDs I got from Microsoft's Student website (where you can get software for really cheap). Here's a list of the CDs:
1) Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003
(Product Key Required) - Fortunately I found the product key on a yellow label on the back of this one
2) Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003
3) Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 (Windows Prerequisites)
4) Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 (MSDN Library for Visual Studio .NET 2003 - Disc 1)
5) Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 (MSDN Library for Visual Studio .NET 2003 - Disc 2)
6) Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 (MSDN Library for Visual Studio .NET 2003 - Disc 3)
7) Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 (Student Tools for Visual Studio .NET 2003)
I tried installing in this order: 3, 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, as my professor suggested but I get dialog boxes saying something is wrong with my cpter's components. Do you know of a step-by-step site?

Ok, I'm making a "grade computation" forms and the problem is: I have 3 forms - prelim, midterm and final. Each form has its own computations to get the average grade. The problem is, how do I transfer the average grades computed in the "prelim", "midterm" and "final" to the last form so I could compute for the total average grade, which means combining the "prelim grade", the "midterm grade" and the "final grade"? I couldn't figure it out, because the prelim, midterm and final are on separate forms.
Take note, the "prelim" is a form, "midterm" is an another form and "final" is also a separate form. The idea is getting the average grade of all three to combine so I could compute for the total average grade.

Do you have the full version of Visual Studio 2003?
The ServiceModel Metadata Utility Tool can be found at the Windows SDK installation location, specifically, C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0\Bin.

Did you use the Windows Search utility.
Click its "More Advanced Options" item, and select these two items:
i) Search hidden files and folders
ii) Search subfolders

I'm not sure what sequence of key presses or mouse clicks I did to enable this, but now every tab and space in my code editor is displayed as a special character (similar to Microsoft Word if you click the "paragraph" button). So if I have code:
blah = blah++;
I get
->blah.=.blah++;
It's really annoying, and I'd like to turn it off.
