I have a VB project for which I need to create a single executable, ASAP. I don't want a folder full of files; I don't want an installer; I especially don't want the user to have to have the .net framework on their computer.
Is this even possible any more? Everything I can find on the issue describes some sort of "Setup and Deployment" voodoo that creates a new folder on my computer, and I can't even figure out how to get it to *put* anything in that folder.
Again, I need an executable above all. If at all possible, I want this to be completely standalone. If I have to use Setup and Deployment, I will, but a few hints as to how to proceed once that project is created would be helpful.
Version: Microsoft Development Environment 2003, (Version 7.1.3088) and Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (Version 1.1.4322) from the Visual Studio suite. I have the CDs and can add components if necessary but I've looked and can't find anything that seems to be what I need.
Thanks for any help!

Recently, I had problem creating/opening a project from the Visual Studio .NET 2003 because it states that the web server is not running. Now, this problem has been solved.
I can now create/open a new project.
However, when I open a project, this message will pop up:
" The project '<project_name>' is on an untrusted web server. Opening this project may cause code to be executed with full trust.
Do you want to continue opening this project? If you do not trust thw source of this project, you should choose 'No'. "
If I click 'Yes', I can open a project. If I click 'No', then I can't open one.
So, how do I make my web server a trusted one? I don't want this message to pop out whenever I want to open a project.
Has it got to do with my IIS?
Please help. Thanks :)

I am working with Microsoft Visual Studio.Net 2003 at home. I need to create a Visual C# project using the template ASP.NET web application. I do not know what to state in the location.
I understand that it should be a URL but what exactly should it be?
Can a geocities or a free web hosting website do?
If so, how do I do it?

It's been a long time since I opened my Visual Studio .NET 2003.
When I wanted to create or open a project, this prompt pops up:
"Visual Studio cannot create or open the application because the web server on this computer is not running. Start the web server before running".
How do I do that?

I have a problem with compiling a VB.net solution. The errors that
occur are about Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll.
All errors look like:
<name> is ambiguous between declarations in Modules
"Microsoft.VisualBasic.Strings" and "Microsoft.VisualBasic.Strings"
I've tried searching the web but I couldn't find the solution of the problem.
hint: I use Visual Studio .NET 2003
P.S. I need an answer as quickly as possible.

I am interested in programming and so far I only know Visual Basic, Basic, and QBasic, not so amazing. Anyway, lately I have grown interest in C++ and want to learn it. I know C++ is a massive language but are there any compilers? guides? to get statrted? I like using the 32-bit compilers, but it doesn't make a difference. Also, I have VIsual Studio.NET 2003, but I don't know hwo to use it with Visual C++. Even teaching me how to program Hello World would be fine.

I'm currently using Windows Server 2003 at home as a stand-alone OS to develop software. It's set up as a domain controller, but no other computers are connected to it. It exists on it's own hard drive and when I want to use it I shut down my computer, take out the hard drive with XP on it (I have swappable hard drive bays), insert the drive with Windows Server 2003 on it, and fire it up.
The problem i'm having is that when I need to connect to the internet, it takes a LONG time for the pages to open, or sometimes they don't open at all. I've entered all of my most used website addresses into Trusted Sites, but still I get errors. When I connect to Visual Studio, sometimes I cannot access MSDN or the ASP.NET Configuration Page (which I need for developing websites).
I'm totally baffled. When my XP drive is in and running my internet connection functions normally, and I almost never have problems accessing the internet.
Im using IE 6 and broadband connection
Help!

I'm trying to make a program in Visual Studio.NET 2003, in Visual Basic, and what it does is supposed to look at the computers hardware, and check to see if it is compatible with another program. How can I go about doing this? I'm not sure what kind of code I need to use to check the hardware. I mostly need to check the CPU Speed, and what type of video card/and the memory on it, and also the RAM.

Im currently using Windows 2003 Server ONLY because I wanted a web server (IIS6) which could serve up ASP.NET v1.1 pages, allowed me to debug my apps through MS Visual Studio .NET 2003, and gave me the ability to host multiple websites (each provided host name points to a different file folder as root) and provide multiple identities for the website.
Besides a decent web server Win2K3 has been a pain. Can some one please recommend a commerical or free web server which can do my wants but is capable of running on Windows XP? I'd use Apache for Windows but DAMN, that thing can be too too brutual to install and the last i saw it didnt even work properly with ASP.NET.
Thanks.
