I am using VC++ 2005 standard edition and tried using #include <windows.h>
in my project but there are a list of errors with the description:
"error C2872: 'IUnknown' : ambiguous symbol C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC\PlatformSDK\include\unknwn.h "
I found that the windows.h file is in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC\PlatformSDK directory. The project has also included the $(VCInstallDir)\PlatformSDK\lib, \include and \bin lines in the project options window.
How to include windows.h correctly?

I go to college and I get to download all this microsoft stuff for free, and I just downloaded visual dotNET 2003. Can someone explain to me how to install it? Should i install it on vista or XP? Is there a big difference between dot NET 2003 and 2005? I can get 2005 for like 30 bucks but i dont wanna spend the money if there isn't a big difference. Also they have all of these other packages listed below that i can DL for free...what exactly are they and do i need them? I know C++ and i just wanna mess around with dotNET over break. How do i go about installing the prerequisite CD and the main disc. When ever i put in the prerequisite CD all this stuff pops up and it wants me to do all these like updates?? Also whats the best way to go about learning this this I already know C++, any good books/sites? Thanks!

I am working with a desktop application that was built in VS.NET 2003.
The application uses crystal reports for several reports (the version
of crystal that weas included with Visual Studio). We recently
migrated to VS 2005 and some of the reports do not work (again we stuck
with the version of crystal that came boxed with VS 2005 Pro). It
seems that the reports which contain sub reports are the ones with the
issue. All of the basic reports, without sub reports run fine. When I
attempt to run a report that includes sub reports.
I get an error at rpt.SetDataSource(ds)
"Load Report Failed". I have spent countless hours researching
this error, but sadly I have had no luck at resolving the issue. Can
anyone tell me if they have had the same issue with crystal reports in
VS 2005?

Hi,
I am using Microsoft Visual C++ Express edition 2005 for writing a program. I needed an xml parsing library and i chose to use the Xerces libraries. The problem is that the header files are located in my D:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC\include\xercesc directory. the search path for the include files includes the path till D:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC\include so the compiler doesnt search within the xercesc directory and i am getting file not found error when i use #include<xercesc\utils\Platformutils.hpp... How to make the compiler search within the subdirectories of the included paths???
Also is the statement
#include<xercesc\utils\Platformutils.h...
correct??

Hey everyone, i have a programming class at school and when i have to get up to go ask the teacher something, the guys around me mess up and delete my programs all the time. i'm sick and tired of it, so i wrote a visual basic 2005 express program that locks the computer using
Public Declare Sub LockWorkStation Lib "user32" ()
but when i try to execute it at my school (they do whatever they can to stop us from locking it because they're afraid someone will lock and leave) it doesn't work! is there any other way to do this? other than, of course, re-coding the entire darned lockworkstation? much thanks appreciated in advance.
--additon: the only resources i have are microsoft's visual studio express versions
