Can you save a MS Word doc to your harddrive and a separate web location like Sharepoint in one click? I can save a document straight to my Sharepoint site or to my harddrive, but it would be very convenient to save them to both places at once by just clicking "save" or something similar. Is there a macro for this maybe? Thanks much.

Okay. This might be a little tricky to explain.
I want to make a list (just one) which data would change depending on the group/permissions you have.
For example. I want to create a list for 3 departments.
Accounting, Engineering, Design.
All tasks would be on this one list but only people in the Accounting Group can see the Accounting tasks, and not Engineering/Design.
Is this possible?

I am currently running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise from home. I have installed Sharepoint server and project server 2007. While I can access sharepoint server from the web I cannot access the project server. I am able to access both sharepoint server and project server from the internal LAN.
(I am not trying to run these servers full time, just as a proof of concept.)
Setup:
Router 10.1.1.1 which is forwarding needed ports to server 10.1.1.2 (8080,443,444, etc)
Server with IP of 10.1.1.2
I have configured IIS sharepoint website with alternate port of 8080 since my ISP blocks port 80.
I have setup CA. I have installed certificate chain from the CA on my LAN computer.
I can access both servers from the LAN using http://10.1.1.2/pages/default.aspx and http://10.1.1.2/projectserver.
When I access http://71.178.195.119:8080/pages/default... I get the prompt for domain login and I can login and access sharepoint server.
When I try accessing http://71.178.195.119:8080/projectserver the domain login prompt..then I get nothing. No error, just the standard Internet Explorer cannot display this page.
Any ideas?

IF I HAVE AN OFFICE GROUP OF ROUGHLY 50 PEOPLE AND THEY WANT TO USE SHAREPOINT THE CHEAPEST SOLUTION FOR ME IS TO STANDUP A SHAREPOINT SERVER WHICH WOULD REQUIRE ME TO BUY THE SERVER LICENSE THEN ALSO I WOULD NEED A COPY OF DESIGNER TO MANAGE AND BUILD THE PAGES. MY QUESTION IS IF I AM ONLY WANTING THEM ACCESS INSIDE THE NETWORK NOT AWAY FROM WORK IS THIS ALL I NEED (SHAREPOINT SERVER & DESIGNER)??? I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE I HAVE ALL THE NECESSARY PROGRAMS TO GET GOING.

SharePoint has groups for permissions and can pull information from Active Directory. I believe the term you are inquiring about has to deal more with AD than SharePoint

There are innumerable benefits that happens with the deployment of sharepoint services.
One example is will be helpful in finding out ultimate solution for an enterprise by layering other microsoft office project applications like project server, project web access which will wholly facilitate project workflow automations and many other wonder things.
I have mailed the ground plan diagram of the share point server which you can glance upon. Do take a look into.

I have downloaded sharepoint designer 2007 onto my Windows XP Professional 2002 in order to design a website for work. However, there are components that I am unable to access. i have read that SPD 2007 is not compatible with an XP. Is this correct?
