I want to know if it is possible to serialize the objects in J2SE and deserialize in J2ME? How will the client built over J2ME know abt the objects(if it was derived or base class). How will overridden functions on J2SE get executed at the J2ME side? Please let me know the possibilities asap. Also let me know if the question is not clear.

I'm learning j2me. I know that after finishing the application, just copy *.jar file to a Java supported cellphone and it will appear in Java application list. But the cell phone has already a currently running system.
If i develop my own cellphone system using j2me, how can i install it to a "blank" cellphone?

What's the best free instant messenger application that will work on my Nokia 6300 which is on Orange UK? I have tried QuickIM Express but doesn't always work and I don't like the auto message it sends saying that I am using QuickIM Free Express Edition. I have tried eMSN which is now renamed to IMHere but it is too basic and uses too much bandwidth. I have tried ebuddy beta but it is slow and not very good. What other free ones are there that are better?

I m 24, looking for a career change to software, after 4years in Technical industry. I know C to some extent learning C++, is it worthless to learn c++, Can i join learn J2EE/J2ME directly, how long will it take me to get a placement in software company. My friends & people suggest me that i am too ambitious in getting job in 5 months time, more so they ask me to learn .NET &C# instead of J2EE because they say it is outdated technology. What is the purpose of a jad file for a J2ME application ?
Most of the time when installing a J2ME application, we only need to transfer the jar file into the mobile handset, not the jad. Please let me know what is the actual purpose of the jad file.
I have an impression that some of the handset needs to jad in order to install a J2ME app, but can you let me know how is the installation procedure in those handset ? transfer both jad and jar into the handset ? install via the desktop app comes with the mobile phone ? which types of phones needed a jad to install a J2ME app ?

I mean i have a common receiver that receives all the signals within a particular radius and i need to write a J2me program that extracts only the mobile number from that signal to feed to a computer for further computations... For eg) A calls B. But we want C to get the signals first from A then after some operations it should reach B. Suggest possiblities or any alternatives to program C in J2ME or any other language. We mean A,B,C are all mobile phones. C should recognise all the passing signals within a particular radius which s not an actual receiver.
