I have some question if you lot can give me some information about it.
I have exam coming up in few days and I wont second opinions.
THIS IS JUST SOME LAST YEAR QUESTION
1.
The Internet has developed into highly distributed source of multimedia information without an overall design. Discuss how this affects the use of multimedia information (particularly streaming multimedia) and outline what is being done to increase the usefulness of the Internet as a multimedia information infrastructure.
2.
Discuss what is meant by full distribution transparency in distributed systems and outline the different areas in which transparency is achieved.
Outline TWO distributed applications where transparency is in evidence and discuss how each type of transparency is addressed (or not) in the two applications.
3.
When designing a Security Policy for a distributed system
(a) Explain with the aid any suitable examples the key criteria that need to be considered.
(b) What basic security mechanisms need to be addressed?
(c) Any Security Policy will require the use of specific software tools for monitoring its effectiveness. How are these tools used and what information would you use to monitor the effectiveness of any particular policy?
4.
Executable content applications techniques have made WEB pages a very attractive medium for many different types of E-Commerce transactions. The client side vulnerability problem, which is sometimes called the ‘Deadly Content’ problem however, poses many security problems.
Explain why this is the case, discuss the possible security threats that can occur and identify possible solutions to the security problems you have outlined.
5.
One of the past criticisms of the Internet has been that its development has been underpinned by a technology designed simply for the retrieval and display of documents. Discuss this theme and how the WWW is continuing to evolve into an interactive environment. Your answer will need to include descriptions of existing and developing technologies and protocols.
6
For the following organisations, state whether / how they can adopt the client / server model to their advantage:
(a) A car components company with around a dozen stand alone PCs.
(b) A large Local Authority with a legacy mainframe system and a number of minicomputers / supermicros.
This should include a statement of how their current setup fits the client / server model and suggest what type of applications the organisation should be using. Your answer should also discuss the types of server that could be used. Include information on the balance between the client and the server, what applications / user files etc are stored where and why. You may need to make assumptions to help justify your answer. Please state these.
Thanks

I am currently trying to hack my school. I wish to do this by using Saminside on 2 files. SAM and System which are located in C:/Widows/System32/Config. The SAM file contains every password for that certain computer or server and the system file contains all of the names and a marker which traces a name to a password. That is how windows knows to log you in or deny you access. For obvious reasons Windows will net let you do anything with those files at all.
And the only way to even attempt to recover such a file is through an alternate operating system. Now my school uses a Server for the whole entire school. Which means that any and every accounts information is on there, is the computer is connected to the internet. Because the server refreshes the SAM and System files every time it connects to the internet.
Now what I am having trouble with is picking an operating system, usually an offspring of some version of Linux, which can see, mount, and then open C:/Widows… My first choice was windows DOS but you need a floppy disk to use it for some reason and sadly our school’s computers have no floppy slot : /. My second choice is something that goes on to a disk but that takes atleast 5 minutes to copy it’s self on to the RAM, and I don’t want to get in seroiuse trouble so I have certain time constrainsts. Then I got to my present state installing an operating system on to a flash dirve, which is no hard task, I fooled around with Fidora, Puppy Linux, and Dam Small Linux (which opens in a window and I didn’t really have to install it on to my flash drive). So now I come to you looking for an operating system which opens in about 2-3 mins and is flash drive accesable and that can open C: drive.

Well, I just recently installed Starcraft again on my Computer.
I'm using a cable for internet and I'm trying to get on battle.net, but every time it waits for a while at the "connecting to fastest server" then goes to
"Unable to connect to Battle.net
You may be trying to connect to an invalid Battle.net server. If you are using a modem, you may need to manually connect to the internet before connecting to a Battle.net server."
Additional information:
I have turned off the windows firewall
Turned off my anti-virus soft-wares
I use Comcast internet
The internet cable is plugged into the wall
This laptop is a Vaio with a 1.60 GHz processor and 504 MBs of Ram(I know, kind of crappy).
It's using windows XP
And I have downloaded the latest starcraft patch.
I'm playing starcraft:Brood War.
Yups... I'd really like some help too. :( So, how do I fix it?

I want to run ASP (Active Server Pages) programs on my computer but I cannot so I was told to install IIS (Internet Information Sevice).
So I tried to do it according to the following instructions provided to me :-
"Insert the Windows XP Professional CD-Rom into your CD-Rom Drive
From your Start Button, go to Settings, and Control Panel
In the Control Panel window select Add/Remove Programs
In the Add/Remove window select Add/Remove Windows Components
In the Wizard window check Internet Information Services, click OK
An Inetpub folder will be created on your harddrive
Open the Inetpub folder, and find a folder named wwwroot
Create a new folder, like "MyWeb", under wwwroot.
Use a text editor to write some ASP code, save the file as "test1.asp" in the "MyWeb" folder
Make sure your Web server is running - its status can be checked by going into the Control Panel, then Administrative Tools, and double-click the "IIS Manager" icon
Open your browser and type in "http://localhost/MyWeb/test1.asp", to view your first ASP page"
But crap I am not able to do it I went to Control Panel and then to Add/Remove programs and then clicked on ADD/Remove Windows components but that shitt does not open up it gives some error "setup was unable to open Master information file"
I performed a version check of my computer see if it can run ASP on it these are the results of version check :-
"The name isMicrosoft Internet Explorer
The application Version is4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; MEGAUPLOAD 2.0; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) "
Please help me I am totally stuck up help me? I would really appreciate of you could help me!! Thanks budddies!

We have just bought a wii, and we wanted to connect it to the internet. We chose to do an auto detection, and we entered our WPA-PSK (TKIP), but we still can't connect. We even tried a manual setup and entering in the IP address, DNS server etc. by using cmd on our computer and using the ipconfig/all command to get the information we needed - but it still isn't working.
We've used all the instructions off nintendo.com but that didn't work at all.
Does anyone know how to fix this irritating problem?

I'm at the Network Settings section on my PS3, it requires me to enter in some information; where do I find the information to enter into the network settings?
I need to know:
IP Address
Subnet Mask
Default Router
Primary DNS
Secondary DNS
I have some details from typing in "ipconfig" and some details from typing in my routers IP address into the web browser.
these are the (incorrect) settings I'm currently using:
IP Address - I used the IPv4 address found in ipconfig, but changed the last digit.
Subnet - 255.255.255.0
Default router - is the default gateway in ipconfig
Primary DNS is the same numbers as the default router
Secondary DNS is left blank
The PS3 stopped connecting to the Internet 3 weeks ago, It used to connect with the automatic settings. Now it just comes up with "Unable to communicate with the server. This is a DNS error"
I can't mess with the router; it's not mine. All I can do is switch the router on/ off, which I've done. I've typed in the correct SSID and password.

I am running a LAN network in my room.
My computer, part of the LAN network, is the only computer with internet access.
The wireless network my computer connects to is a WPA secured network.
The router I connect to is password protected and I cannot set up port forwarding on it. There is no way whatsoever.
I am NOT asking how to connect to a router, as I know how to do that. Also, I am not asking what the standard admin name and passwords are for routers, as i know that too.
My question is how, if it is possible, could I work around port forwarding. Is there an application I could run on my desktop or something else I could set up to send the data another way? I am trying to an Opensim server on my pc. The server uses up numerous ports, as I created numerous sims.
Unfortunately, the fact that I can't set up port forwarding on the router is making this difficult.
Any useful information is greatly appreciated however,
please refrain from responding unless you understand the question and have some actual knowledge and experience in the subject.
