Internet Information Server Interview Questions and Answers
Please some tell me the software name for IIS??
need in ASP.NET
Of course they run Windows Server and IIS. If they didn't, people would be laughing at them (and probably wouldn't use those products either). "Eating your own dog food" is an important part of software development to gain any respect.
This is basically an easy one, it mean s that two of your computers have been given the same name so you have to change one of them. To do this......

1. Go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "System"
2. Find the tab at the top that says "Computer Name"
3. You will see the name in a box at the top.... change it
4. Reboot and then use the network wizard again.
IIS only comes with some OS's, like

* IIS 1.0, Windows NT 3.51 Service Pack 3
* IIS 2.0, Windows NT 4.0
* IIS 3.0, Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3
* IIS 4.0, Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack
* IIS 5.0, Windows 2000
* IIS 5.1, Windows XP Professional
* IIS 6.0, Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
* IIS 7.0, Windows Vista and Windows Server "Longhorn"

In short, switch to XP pro.

Go into add/remove programs, one way to do this is click on start, goto settings, select control panel then choose add/remove programs. A window will open and on the left you will see button called add/remove windows components Internet Information Services will need to be checked to be installed. You use this service to safeguard web pages you create by using Url scan tool to help prevent un-authorized access into your websites you create.

Note: IIS comes with Windows XP by default but must be activated and installed to use.

I dont have a firewall enabled in windows xp and i have no router with a firewall. it's a direct connection to the internet through a cable modem. And the folder in wwwroot has permissions for everyone to read and all children of the folder to inherit this
First you'd need to install IIS (available in Add Remove Programs -> Add/Remove Windows Components -> IIS

after that, you just need to have the DNS point to your external IP (assuming any routers are feeding port 80 to your computer)
i installed a new software to work with asp tables, and i have never before run any asp project on my pc.
i have no idea how to start this, take a look at what the support team says :

--------------------------------------...
To test generated pages locally you need to run Internet Information Server (Windows NT, 2000, XP) or Personal Web Server (Windows 98). Open Internet Services Manager and create virtual directory
--------------------------------------...

Perfect now the next step - How Do i create virtual directory ??
where exactly ?? i use windows xp pro
anyidea ? please help
